Here are 10 tips that will confidently speed things up and get you fruitful faster by using Electra Cloud.
1. How to quickly pan and zoom.
In Electra Cloud, there are three icons displayed in the lower right corner of your window automatically, which are “Zoom In”, “Zoom Out”, and “Zoom to fit the Page”. These three icons let us zoom in, out and view the entire page with just a mouse click.
2. How to draw and measure with particular dimensions.
To draw a pattern with a specific dimension, open the properties dialogue. Under the View menu, click on Show properties (View | Show properties).
In the width and height fields, type your measurements in basic units (ex: 12in, 13 in, 14 px, etc.) even with expressions and multiple companies, and electra cloud will understand your units and sizes accordingly, take into account your current settings for page size and page measurement units. If you want to draw a line slanted at a particular angle, draw a straight line and use the shape properties window to key in your required grade.
If you are using layout shapes in stencils provided by Electra, drop the selected shapes into the 3d drawing easy and right-click on these shapes to set the exact dimensions by clicking “Set Dimension “. In addition, using the Electra cloud menu “Manage Components” or “Build Layout” will also allow you to do the same.
To measure dimensions, drag and drop the three measurement shapes shown on the left and drag their yellow handles to measure and display the dimensions. Right, click on these shapes to change the units of measurement to inches or cm.
3. How to draw dotted lines, dashed lines and arrows.
Draw a regular line, make sure it is selected, then click on the line icon to change the line thickness (weight), dash (line style) or arrows (line ends) ).
The same applies to wires in Electra cloud. Please make sure a wire is selected, and then click on these icons to change the wire from its default solid line to dashes or any colour you want.
4. How to set and use layers.
Electra Cloud support layers, and in everyday use, layering may not require, but if you need it, click View | Display Properties. In Properties, click on Layers to access the layers.
In Electra cloud, pin names and descriptions are separated into their layers so that their properties can easily change worldwide.
You can assign all descriptions to be displayed in a colour of your own choice or have it displayed but not printed and vice versa. The same applies to pin names. If necessary, you can create your layers and assign your symbols and text to your custom layers.
5. How to draw a triangle or hexagon.
To draw a triangle, click on the Line tool, then click and drag to draw a straight line. The blue handle with white fill shows the beginning of the line, while the blue handle with yellow fill shows the end of the line. Click and drag the endpoint of the first line to make a second line, and Electra cloud will automatically join two ropes. Repeat the same for the 3rd line, and Electra will automatically close the three lines to make a triangle. The same applies to drawing a hexagon or for any other multi-sided shapes.
6. How to draw a curved line.
Click on the Freeform tool; next, click and move to create a curve. Hover your mouse over this curve, and Electra cloud will perform extra grips. Drag on the circle handles to bend the curve to your requirements.
7. How to flip and rotate shapes.
To rotate the shape, you need to click on the body and turn it by rotating the handle, as shown below. If you want to flip the form, right-click on the shape, go to Operations and select either Flip Horizontal or Flip Vertical to convert the condition accordingly.
Their pin names make the symbols on the Electra from left to right and top to bottom. If, for any reason, you need these pin names to appear (as shown below), you can do a flip on the symbol, and both the connection points and pin names will flip to the desired position.
8. How to change the stacking order of a shape.
Sometimes you may want to make shapes that stacked on top of each other. All of them are given 50% transparency for description purposes.
Right-click on any shape and click “Arrange”, select “Take to front”, “Continue”, “Send back”, or “Send back” to rearrange their stacking order.
So, now we have a square at the top. A circle in the middle and a triangle at the bottom of the stack.
9. How to format a block of text into shapes.
All shapes in Electra Cloud can have text attached (even if the text can be blank), and only a single text can be attached to a single body. To have multiple readers, you will need to group various shapes into a group, where each figure in a group can have its text.
As shown in the image above, by default, Electra will format the text block accordingly. For rectangles, the text section will fulfil the whole rectangle. For lines, the text will follow the line curve in question. If you need to change the look of the text, click on the shape and then click on the text blocking tool and then drag the blue handle. You will be able to change the text block size and reposition the text where you need.
10. What are connection points, and why are they important.
With Electra Cloud, you are allowed to connect one shape to another through connection points.
In the CAD electrical drawings, Electra will ask you to connect only one wire to the connection points (as shown on the left with a blue ‘X on the side of the symbol). It is because simply by connecting to a connection point, Electra will know that you have joined a wire to a terminal in your sign and will properly generate a connection (from/to).
